To
the Athlete:
The
2004 Track & Field Season is right around the corner.
There are more then 75 people who have signed up for the is upcoming
Spring Season. Many Athletes have
been busy with Winter sports or have been training very hard with weights and or
running. This year should be a
banner year as we defend our 2003 League Championship and chase after the
District 4 AA Championship.
Still
Lookin for freshmen: Most
freshman think they will wait till next year, track is about learning how to
compete so you can be highly competive during your sophomore year.
Competing will help you prepare for your upcoming
FALL Sport. The techniques
learned at track practice will increase your speed and strength.
There is a special Freshman meet scheduled for the end of the year, where
you competing against the freshman of the league.
You
practice, You play. Although
some meets on Saturday and Friday you must qaulify for, there will be a meet at the end of the year for those people
who do not qaulify for district for you to compete in. There also is a Invite schedule for those people who are
doing extremly well, but have talented indivuals ahead of them.
Once again, You practice,
You Play.
WHAT
ABOUT LIFT?: Yes,
I agree. That’s why we
weight train. We will be lifting 3
days aweek.
Very
Important: To meet PIAA rules,
The Shamokin Area Boy’s Track Team wears white spandex, compression
short or body armor under there uniform. There
will be no exception with this rule.
No cut off T-shirts will be aloud.
So if you wear anything under your uniform it needs to be white.
Spikes
are very import shoes during races, but
with a wide varity of spikes, you
should wait till you talk to a coach to see what kind of shoes you should get
ie. Distance spikes,
sprinting spikes, jumping spikes.
Very
Important The First practice
is Scheduled for next Monday March 8th, 2004
starting at 3:20 at the Track.
Weight lifting will be resumed on Wednesday.
Next years sports seasons depend on what you do now, so if you have a fellow athlete who is not out for a spring sport encourage them to join so your Team will be better prepared for your upcoming season.
